Round 1

Picks 1-16
1. Bears: Jayden Daniels, QB, LSU

I let Doug Farrar run the Bears and he took Daniels! "Easy first-pick grade here," at it says on his Big Board.

Doug Farrar, Touchdown Wire (USA Today)

2. Commanders: Drake Maye, QB, North Carolina

B/R does things as a group, so Sobieski may have just been following their ratings which have Maye 9.3 and Williams 9.2. "Size, speed, arm strength; (Maye's) got all the tools you look for in a franchise quarterback."

Brent Sobleski, Bleacher Report

3. Vikings: Caleb Williams, QB, USC

(from NE) I assumed the Patriots GM would be thrilled to have Caleb fall into their lap. But he traded down.
D'Andrea (of the Vikes) was willing to give up three firsts (this year and next). "It’s worth it to find a viable replacement for Kirk Cousins."

Christian D'Andrea, USA Today

4. Cardinals: Malik Nabers, WR, LSU

Since this is Walt's site, I let him participate. WF has Nabers higher on the Big Board than Harrison.
"He outplayed Kayshon Boutte when the two were in school together." Oh, well, okay then.

-Walt Cherepinsky, Walter Football

5. Chargers: Brian Thomas Jr., WR, LSU

After a busy day of explaining why he has Drake Maye as QB6, Chris Simms found the time to make his pick as the Bolts GM. He was thrilled to see his WR2 (behind Nabers) available. "Runs by EVERYBODY."

Chris Simms, NBC Sports

6. Giants: Marvin Harrison Jr., WR, Ohio State

Breer called it. "I think the Vikings come up for McCarthy at No. 4. And if I’m guessing from there, Alt to the Chargers at No. 5, Harrison to the Giants at No. 6." Not fully correct, but it's still fitting that he got to make the pick he predicted.

Albert Breer, NFL insider

7. Titans: Brock Bowers, TE, Georgia

People who work for Fantasy sites don't take o-linemen. "There’s no better tight end prospect than Brock Bowers in this class. Or perhaps ever."

Andrew Erickson, Fantasy Pros

8. Falcons: Quinyon Mitchell, CB, Toledo

I asked Ben Solak's parents if they would let him take over a team. They said okay, as long as he finished his homework first. "The CB2 job opposite A.J. Terrell is open."

Ben Solak, The Ringer

9. Bears: Rome Odunze, WR, Washington

With Farrar's second selection, he gave his new QB a target. "There really isn’t any route he can’t run."

Doug Farrar, Touchdown Wire (USA Today)

10. Jets: Byron Murphy II, DT, Texas

Saw this guy's mock at Mock Draft Database. Turns out it's a high school paper. Still, he might be older than Solak. "I think Murphy would be a superb addition to the Jets defensive line."

Bowen Morrison, Wayland Student Press

11. Patriots: Cooper Beebe, G, Kansas State

(from MIN) I was thrilled (and a bit surprised) when this future Hall of Famer agreed to draft for the Patriots. No quote though. When I asked, he just mumbled something and glared at me.

Bill Belichick, former NFL coach

12. Broncos: Joe Alt, OT, Notre Dame

Algorithms are all the rage, so I gave one a shot. Joe Alt over a QB? I suppose. Again, no quote.

PFF Mock Draft Simulator

13. Raiders: Bo Nix, QB, Oregon

Charlie decided to give the Raiders a QB and abided his Big Board, which has Nix a spot higher than McCarthy. "Nix reminds me of Mayfield, but Nix has more size, is a better athlete, and a better runner."

-Charlie Campbell, Walter Football

14. Saints: Tallies Fuaga, OT, Oregon State

Vinnie Iyer recently mocked Fashanu to the Saints, but that's only because Fuaga was off the board. Fuaga is #10 on his Big Board. "A great blend of size, power, savvy, smarts, and agility."

VInnie Iyer, The Sporting News

15. Colts: Terrion Arnold, CB, Alabama

Haters be damned, I like Mel and was honored that he'd join in the fun. "Cornerback is the Colts' biggest need, and Arnold is my second-ranked corner."

Mel Kiper, ESPN

16. Seahawks: Troy Fautanu, G/OT, Washington

PFF's Arjun Menon agreed to participate only if he could let the betting market determine his pick. "The Seahawks are currently -135 on DraftKings to take an offensive lineman with their first pick."

Arjun Menon, PFF
