Round 1

Picks 17-32
17. Saints: Olumuyiwa Fashanu, OT, Penn State

An offensive tackle appears to be the most likely selection for the Saints in the first round. Having two they'd be comfortable taking, they moved back three spots, got an extra pick and still got their top preference in Penn State's Olu Fashaunu.

18. Bengals: Byron Murphy II, DT, Texas

Cincinnati is another possible spot for an offensive tackle, but a falling Byron Murphy is too good to pass up at 18. He could be long gone by now as Atlanta or Chicago are possibilities to snag him in the top 10 or in a trade down.

19. Cowboys: Troy Fautanu, G/OT, Washington

Cowboys get: Pick 19
Rams get: Pick 24 and a 2025 3rd round pick

Dallas would certainly have options by drafting Troy Fautanu. The Huskies offensive lineman could battle it out with Tyler Smith to see which one plays left tackle and which one moves inside to or stays at guard.

20. Steelers: Amarius Mims, OT, Georgia

1. High risk/high reward selection here with Mims. His injury history as well as a lack of starting experience are concerns, but NFL teams love his skill set. If the Steelers draft him, it would allow them to move Broderick Jones back over to his natural left tackle position.

21. Commanders: Tyler Guyton, OT, Oklahoma

Commanders get: Picks 21 and 55 (R2)
Dolphins get: Picks 36 (R2), 40 (R2) and 100 (R3)

Running out of options and not wanting to get shut out of the top offensive tackle prospects, the Commanders move up to grab Tyler Guyton. He’s more experienced than Amarius Mims, but a lot of what I wrote about Mims, you can apply here to Guyton as well.

22. Cardinals: Cooper DeJean, S/CB, Iowa

Cardinals get: Pick 22
Broncos get: Picks 27, 104 (R4) and 186 (R6)

The Cardinals deal a couple of third day picks for the athletic, versatile DeJean. He’s a great ballhawk and can line up all over the secondary.

23. Chargers: Xavier Worthy, WR, Texas

2. 4.21 speed tends to get drafted in the first round. It’s possible he’ll go even higher than this, some feel he could even be the 4th wideout off the board, but the Chargers will gladly take him here at 23

24. Rams: Chop Robinson, OLB/DE, Penn State

1. LA got sniped by Cincinnati for Byron Murphy, so they netted an extra third and decide to double up on uber athletic EDGE rushers after Byron Young worked out so well for them a year ago in the third round. An offensive tackle or even a QB wouldn’t be a total shock selection here.

25. Packers: Jared Verse, DE, Florida State

EDGE rusher may not be the biggest need for the Packers, but Preston Smith is getting older, and teams can never have enough quality guys to get after the QB. Verse is a steal at this juncture as his pro ready game can make an immediate impact.

26. Buccaneers: Graham Barton, G/OT, Duke

Barton may not be available for the Buccaneers at 26, but with DeJean and the top EDGE guys off the board, adding an upgrade over Robert Hainsey wouldn’t be a bad move

27. Broncos: Bo Nix, QB, Oregon

Like I said in my last mock draft, if the Broncos are dead set on drafting a QB in the first round and are unable to move up for J.J. McCarthy, trading back once or twice for Nix would be ideal rather than taking him at 12. He doesn’t have the biggest arm, but his strengths fit very well in Sean Payton’s offense.

28. Seahawks: Jackson Powers-Johnson, C, Oregon

Seattle hasn’t been the easiest team to get a read on. Byron Murphy is a definite possibility if they stay put at 16, as is Troy Fautanu. Trading down to 28, adding a second rounder and Jackson Powers-Johnson to the interior of the O-Line would be a solid bit of work for John Schneider on the first night.

29. Lions: Kool-Aid McKinstry, CB, Alabama

Detroit seems like a team that’s very open to trading down. If they hang around at 29, Kool-Aid McKinstry would make sense. More secondary help is needed, and the Lions did very well with Brian Branch out of Alabama a year ago.

30. Ravens: Jordan Morgan, OT, Arizona

Honestly, you could take what I said about the Lions possibly trading out of the first round and apply it to the Ravens as well as the 49ers and Chiefs behind them. If the Ravens stay put, adding Jordan Morgan would make a lot of sense after they dealt Morgan Moses to the Jets.

31. Raiders: Michael Penix Jr., QB, Washington

Raiders get: Picks 31 and 124 (R4)
49ers get: Picks 44 (R2) and 77 (R3)

Vegas still gets Penix at 31 by trading up with their old Bay Area rivals.

32. Chiefs: Kingsley Suamataia, OT, BYU

I liked how Suamataia looked at the Combine working out. This would surprise some people as a lot of people are expecting the Chiefs to draft a receiver, but there is some smoke surrounding the back-to-back champs and the Brigham Young product.
