Round 1

Picks 1-16
1. Titans: Cam Ward, QB, Miami

The only round 1 QB on my board. The Titans staying put at 1 makes things pick inevitable

2. Browns: Travis Hunter, CB/WR, Colorado

The best player in the draft in my opinion. Will primarily star as a WR in Cleveland but he will be a great chess piece on defense too

3. Giants: Abdul Carter, OLB, Penn State

The Giants don’t necessarily need another pass rusher but I have Carter and Hunter in a league of their own in this draft so he’s too good to pass on

4. Patriots: Will Campbell, OT, LSU

The Patriots need to protect their franchise QB Drake Maye and Campbell is the most polished LT in this draft even if his arms are a shade shorter than ideal

5. Jaguars: Ashton Jeanty, RB, Boise State

The buzz seems to be that this won’t be Mason Graham contrary to 90% of mocks this spring. Jeanty could be the best running back in the league very quickly and will electrify any offense

6. Raiders: Armand Membou, OT, Missouri

With Jeanty gone WR could be a consideration but getting the best RT in the draft is the sensible (Raiders, sensible?) selection

7. Jets: Tyler Warren, TE, Penn State

With only one of the premier tackles left Banks must be considered but I think in the top 10 this would be a little rich. Warren is a little Rob Gronkowski like. Having suffered at his hands for years the Jets get their star TE at long last

8. Panthers: Jalon Walker, OLB, Georgia

I’m very high on Walker. His displays against Texas were indicative of a future superstar at the next level. He will be a great player for the Panthers

9. Saints: Mykel Williams, DE, Georgia

Back to back bulldogs here. Williams has the size and length the Saints covet in their D Linemen. He played hurt last year so his underwhelming numbers can be overlooked

10. Bears: Kelvin Banks, OT/G, Texas

The Bears are in position to have a great draft by picking best available with their 3 picks in the top 41. Here they grab Banks who can start at guard before long term becoming a starting tackle

11. 49ers: Mason Graham, DT, Michigan

The slide ends for the game wrecking Graham. I considered Walter Nolen here because he’s such a great scheme fit but it’s hard to envisage the Niners passing on Graham if he’s available

12. Cowboys: Tetairoa McMillan, WR, Arizona

Dallas has a lot of needs but finding playmakers to ignite an offense which is basically Ceedee Lamb and crumbs has to be priority. Grabbing a true X to pair with Lamb who often works from the slot changes things dramatically for the Cowboys

13. Dolphins: Will Johnson, CB, Michigan

With the best offensive linemen gone Miami might wait til day 2. The Jalen Ramsey uncertainty makes cornerback a big need. Johnson battled injuries last year but when healthy is the best cornerback in this draft

14. Colts: Colston Loveland, TE, Michigan

With Warren long gone the Colts are relieved to get this draft’s other premium TE. Loveland is a WR in a TE body and will be a huge boost to whoever wins the QB battle

15. Falcons: James Pearce Jr., DE/OLB, Tennessee

The Falcons have needed a pass rusher basically forever. Pearce isn’t this high on my board but there is little doubting his explosiveness. He’s looking increasingly likely to be the Falcons edge of choice

16. Cardinals: Emeka Egbuka, WR, Ohio State

Having drafted Marvin Harrison JR last year the Cards pair him with his old college running mate Egbuka. A highly polished route running slot receiver Egbuka will be a great complement to Harrison just like he was at Ohio State
