2026 Contest
Throwing my name in the hat with my non-sensical thoughts on what teams might do.
Round 1
Having traded back, the Bengals now feel good to draft more offense. Wait....hold on. I'm being told they just figured out that there's also a defensive side to the game of football. Instead of drafting another receiver, they'll pick defense. Reluctantly. Someone told them pass rushing was important. Mesidor, it is.
Gotta keep the Great White Safety streak alive down the line, right?
Jets move back a few slots and grab a receiver to pair with Wilson.
****Trade. Browns move up to 20th and acquire the 104th (Rd4) and 152nd (Rd5) in exchange for the 24th and pick 70 (Rd3). They fell in love with Proctor and are gonna take the gamble. Get it? Proctor & Gamble? Nevermind. Carry on.
****Trade. Patriots jump up the board watching a bit envisioning a tackle run. Give the Steelers picks 31, 171 (Rd5) and a 2027 6th round for the 21st pick. They select Blake Miller to help protect Drake "Drake Maye" Maye.
****Trade. Loaded with picks, the Jaguars will move up into the first round and pad out the Chargers pick stock throughout this draft. They send the 56th (Rd2), 100th (Rd3) and 233rd (Rd7) to San Diego for the 22nd. They jump all the way up to grab Sadiq to pair with Strange to give Lawrence a dual TE look.
They lost Blankenship in free agency. Adding a safety here to help replace that depth lost.
Cowboys traded back from 20 and still somehow land McCoy here and are tickled.
Bears analyzed their playoff shortcomings and realize the defense was to blame. Draft a defensive piece they think might help.
Bills should probably beef up the interior of their OL, but nah. Stop that run.
49ers witness the chaos before them and casually step over the remnants of the defensive players run to submit their pick for Concepcion.
28.
****Trade. Cardinals move back into the 1st round realizing the Jets have the ammo to get whatever QB they want next year, so they take a shot now. They send Houston the 34th (Rd2), 217th (7th) and their Rd5 selection in the 2027 draft to select Ty Simpson. Houston trade back out of the first round for another year.
Chiefs go defense again, drafting Trent McDuffie's replacement with the pick they got for him. Seems like a Chiefs thing to do. Replace the production with a rookie contract is the theory so they can kick the can down the road with money elsewhere.
****Trade. Raiders trade back into the first round to nab a weapon for Mendoza. They send picks 36 (Rd2) and 208 (Rd6) to the the Dolpins in exchange for 30. Draft Boston.
After trading back, the Steelers select Iheanachor for the potentially high ceiling in hopes that he'll develop into a stud.
****Trade. Patriots remain ultra-aggressive on the heels of the Super Bowl run, erroneously thinking they're the head of the class once again in the AFC. Send picks 63 (2nd), 95 (3rd) and 212 (6th) to Seattle to bolster their pick stock in exchange for the 32nd and the 188th (Rd6). The Patriots jump all the way up back into the first round to probably reach and select Howell.
