Round 1

Picks 1-16
1. Panthers: Bryce Young, QB, Alabama

Bryce Young will be the pick. Makes me nervous especially looking at how frail Tua is. Coach Reich would prefer Stroud but the GM and owner make this pick.

2. Texans: Will Anderson, DE, Alabama

Houston doesn't love Stroud but it's either him or Anderson. Coach Ryans wants to build a strong defense and Anderson is a great start. Houston takes the better player and see's how the board shakes out at #12 for a possible QB. Maybe they just tank for next years superior QB class.

3. Titans: C.J. Stroud, QB, Ohio State

The Anderson pick definitely throws off Arizona as they were going to take him so now they have to revisit some of those trade calls they were getting. Tennessee jumps after Stroud, stealing him from their division rival and giving up a lot. Arizona nets picks #11 & #41 this year, 2024 1st and 3rd rd and 2025 3rd rd.

4. Colts: Will Levis, QB, Kentucky

Indy's been set on the fact of picking between Levis and Richardson for a while now and they simply don't have the patience to wait for Richardson to develop. Levis is more ready to start this year even though his upside isn't as high.

5. Seahawks: Jalen Carter, DT, Georgia

Seattle is a true pivot point. Coach Carroll doesn't want to wait for Richardson to develop either because of his age. Do they take Carter, even though they wasted a 2nd rounder on Malik McDowell not too long ago, who had some character concerns. The need/fit is too great and they go with Carter.

6. Lions: Devon Witherspoon, CB, Illinois

Detroit just shipped out recent bust Jeff Okudah with their eye on one of the top CBs. Even though Richardson is intriguing, they are a couple of defensive upgrades from taking the NFC North this year. I have Witherspoon slightly ahead on Gonzalez.

7. Raiders: Christian Gonzalez, CB, Oregon

Vegas is basically of the same mindset as Detroit. They need to improve this defense and the other top CB fills a high need. Josh McDaniels needs to be talked out of demanding Richardson and they go with the more sensible Gonzalez.

8. Falcons: Tyree Wilson, DE, Texas Tech

Atlanta truly is sold on Desmond Ridder being their new QB so they also pass on Richardson too. Atlanta knows they need to improve their defense and the signings of Campbell and Dupree are only bandaid. Wilson provides a long term upgrade to the front 7.

9. Patriots: Bijan Robinson, RB, Texas

Chicago was hoping for Wilson to drop so they trade down again netting picks #14, #76 and #210 from New England. The Patriots are salivating over Robinson. They love drafting HBs even when it isn't a huge need. They see him as the missing piece to drastically improving their offense.

10. Eagles: Peter Skoronski, OT/G, Northwestern

Philadelphia doesn't have a lot of needs and they love investing top picks in the trenches. This is a luxury pick and will keep Jurgens waiting to start for another year with Kelce coming back. O-line injuries happen all the time so this is providing excellent insurance to a very solid team.

11. Cardinals: Joey Porter Jr., CB, Penn State

Keep hearing about Jr playing for Dad's old team but it's always Pittsburgh. Why not the team Sr finished his career with? Porter Jr fills a big need and is decent value here.

12. Texans: Anthony Richardson, QB, Florida

Well this worked out pretty well. Richardson is an amazing prospect but teams don't have 2-3 years to wait for this type of commitment. Houston and their new coaching staff do. They realize this is a complete rebuild and will let Richardson be inactive all year behind Davis Mills and Case Keenum.

13. Jets: Paris Johnson, OT, Ohio State

I keep seeing Paris Johnson to the Jets, Paris Johnson to the Jets. Well fine then. They can't trust Beckton to stay healthy and Duane Brown is ancient. Johnson can start on either side but will eventually be their long term LT.

14. Bears: Lukas Van Ness, DE, Iowa

Chicago started the off-season at #1. Now after 2 trade downs they are finally ready to make a pick at #14. They need help on both sides of the line and decide to go with Van Ness and his potential here.

15. Packers: Jaxon Smith-Njigba, WR, Ohio State

1st WR off the board and Green Bay needs to give Jordan Love a lot of help if he's going to succeed. Watson and Smith Njigba would form a nice young starting pair.

16. Commanders: Myles Murphy, DE, Clemson

Another 1st round D-lineman for Washington? Hell yes! DT is set but Young hasn't stayed healthy and they won't be able to afford the keep Sweat much longer. You know Washington prioritizes the position and their are no CBs worthy of the spot available.
