Embiid - Another Option?...or Crazy? ... or Crazy Last Option

The Embiid situation is driving me nuts.  How nuts?...well you tell me.  With all the mystery around a bone not healing as fast as it's supposed to in a 21 year old 7'1 Center who is an athletic phenom, slated savior of the mired franchise that is my 76ers, has me for the first time ever reading Twitter and Instagram posts, listening to any interview with GM or Coach for more information, just trying to glean the truth.  And what's out there:

  • The bone simply isn't healing as fast per the GM
  • He's pain free in other stories and report.
  • The coach says, that he says, he's still growing and is now 7'2
  • Twitter/Instragram posts from Embiid talk about how miraculous the body can be, can change.
  • Team drafts Okafor...but nothing to do with Embiid
  • But he will be needing surgery and will miss the upcoming season per leaked news.  And per source team is concerned about his career.
  • Okafor apparenlty knew he'd be out when he was drafted
  • Actually the injury has been re-broken per 2 sources yet..
  • He's running up stairs and out in clubs in Vegas in other reports.
  • Surgery hasn't arrived yet
  • And another Twitter/Instagram message from Embiid reads something like "Trust me or the Trust the Process"...was that choose one, like you have to either Trust Embiid or Trust the process.  Or was it more like trust both of us...me and the process this is going to work?

And now just silence...and apparently will be just silence until Surgery is decided on or not.

All this leaves me looking at my foot, at where the bone would be...imagining I was 7'1, or is 7'2 now and had the talent to play NBA ball, and maybe be one of the best at my position.

It's one small bone.  Just look at it...

So how nuts?

Well I stared and stared and kept thinking..imagining I'm 21 and long and strong with perfect elite health from my head to my toes except for this one bone...screw it I'm cutting it off...if medicine can't heal that bone...well maybe prosthetic technology exists that will give me a chance to play.

Just a gallows approach, a joke...but the idea is stuck in my head now...and the more I think about it the more I"m not sure if I'm nuts or if it's a real option.

Noway...not in professional sports...but wasn't their an Olympian with prosthetic legs.

Ahh but he went crazy

But the idea worked..he competed in the Olympics

But basketball is a different animal.  We aren't talking straight ahead as fast as you can.  We are talking lateral movement, we are talking about a vertical game where on many occasions defense meets offense in the air...a game that is played in flight...and both sides need to come back down from and land...on their feet.

But this is the last option..it's this or nothing.

Who would give up their foot for a sport though..to live without you foot for the rest of your life.

But this is the NBA...we all exaggerate about wanting something so bad we'd cut of an arm and a leg for it.  Well exaggeration aside would you be willing to cut off your foot?  If it was your only chance?

And how cool would it be in the world of basketball there are stories and legends of the likes of Dr's, and Answers, of Magic and 'The Answer".  For an elite center who gave up his body and still competed at the highest level.

So about this nuts.  I floated this idea out to people and don't even get a reaction one way or another.  So I'm off the reservation, or the idea is too crazy, or maybe it's just boring.

Though if you look it up, crazy for the NBA or not, there are inspiring stories out there worth noting.

Just saying 2nd surgery or not.  It it comes to giving up on an NBA career before it started over one bone in one foot...well I'd consider prosthetics.

Though if I was an NBA prospect with a level of celebrity that Joel has....well I'd ask if Elon Musk could perhaps find the time between building rockets and revolutionizing the automotive industry if he'd put together an elite team to build a custom NBA capable right foot.  And I'd ask the NBA if this is legal as I couldn't find a rule for or against it.
