Eagles QB/Coach/GM Situation Stinks...

So basically the Eagles stink...but let's list out the details of the foul stench emanating from this football team.

The QB Situation:

Bradford is statistically the worst in the league.  Per Philly.com

Among qualified starters, he's 29th in quarterback rating, 32nd in ESPN's Total Quarterback Rating, and 30th in adjusted net yards per pass attempt (which dings him for the interceptions but gives him some credit for avoiding sacks).

I don't want to hear about rust...or about dropped passes.  I view the dropped passes as a symptom of Bradford's utter lack of confidence and leadership.  When guys don't think it's coming to them..and when it does it's late...and the QB has stared you down cuing the defenders to tee you up...well balls get dropped.  It's not completely fair but to me it's part of a QB's game.  It's like a Pitcher not getting run support...the thing is guys will pick up their game for certain guys..and it's part of the game.

And what is it with this city coming up with excuses for the starting QB.  This is a city with a history of loving it's backup QBs, a city who brought you Bobby Hoying...the Detmer Brothers and let's not forget A.J. Feeley...and yet nobody wants to see the backup QB.  That is something to be impressed by.  So kudos to Sanchez and to Chip Kelly the GM for making this possible.

And it's not like Chip Kelly is unaware of the concept of drafting QBs and trying to groom them...there's Barkley way down the bench proving he is aware it makes sense to have some talent in the pipeline...so he just isn't good at assessing talent and any smarts he has he wasted trying to rationalize trading a promising young QB for an average injury prone over paid QB, throwing in a 2nd round draft pick for good measure..and backing him up with the butt fumbler.  (Is it fair to always refer to one low point in a man's career...maybe it is...but maybe the butt fumble is the exception)

The Coaching Situation

This is a bit trickier to dissect/keep separate from the GM situation so I'll keep it short.  This coach was known for his innovative offense that relies on sucker punching the defense by getting off plays before they are ready...and hinges on the idea that the QB may keep the ball and run.  When it works if'ts fun...you get to see a lot of plays and the other team gets tired.  When it doesn't work it's a disaster where you basically are speeding up the process to get the other team's offense back on the field as quickly as possible.

Whether or not this scheme can work what you need to know is that so far it hasn't.  And I mean it really hasn't.  Chip went 10-6 his first two seasons but if you go back to the 2014-15 campaign what you'll see is if it wasn't for special teams...and a guy named Darren Sproles they most likely would have been 7-9 or 8-8.  The defense known for giving up big plays wasn't responsible for the 36 turnovers committed by the offense.  So despite taking away the ball 28 times the Eagles finished -8 in turnover ratio.

The point is Chip the Coach is supposed to be running an elite offense that can win in shoot outs.  But in fact he's running a mediocre turnover prone offense and is being bailed out by special teams and defense.

The GM Situation

The Eagles haven't drafted an offensive linemen since 2013.  That's pretty bad.  But man any team that has skipped the five offensive line positions surely will be loaded up with skill players....so

Ertz (can't block), Mathews (can't catch), Huff (I don't know what he really does), Agholoar (too early to tell)

...now these guys aren't bad but they aren't anything special either

Other than not drafting linemen the GM also decided to let two solid veterans walk away.

After letting an elite RB go citing how expensive he was...the GM then spent the money on an less elusive runner who was probably over used in the 2014 season.

Most importantly see the QB situation this franchise is in...and it's year 3 of this coaching tenure.
