No real point here....just me gushing about GS..trying to wrap my head around this run they are having.

Has this been done in sports before?  This run by the Warriors...what is it comparable to history wise?  The NBA kind of has had a pretty steady ebb and flow of elite teams that are made up an elite core of 2 -3 players that includes 1 - 3 superstars.

Going off the top of my head there was Larry Bird's Celtics and Magic Johnson's Lakers.  The bad boys of Detroit.  Then the decade of Michael Jordan.  Followed by Shaq and Kobe's Lakers.  Thats when San Antonio gets sprinkled in with Robinson & Duncan, then Duncan & Parker.  Then there were the Mercenary teams of Garnett, Ray Allen with the Celtics.  Lebron and Bosh with the Heat.  And in between them was Kobe's run with Gasol.  All this kind had the same rhythm to it.  And maybe I'm glossing over it but seems it was basically about having 3 guys at the peak of their individual games.  Or you were the Spurs.

This GS team is way different in that yeah they have a core that includes the super star Curry, with Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green.  But they also have this revolution that they are leading.  I mean the part of it that is crazy is the way these guys play is changing the way the rest of the league is playing, the Small Ball Revolution.

Building your team from the inside out, playing the game from the inside out perhaps is becoming antiquated.  If you are a strong yet slow PF your days in the NBA aren't as secure as they used to be.  GS may end up with the best record of all time and in the mean time the rest of the league is scrambling to catch up on the small ball revolution.

  • Detroit has moved on from having two bigs in Drummond and Monroe and have gotten better for it.
  • Milwaukee going with the offensive force of Monroe are getting crushed by not having a rim protector
  • The Clippers are just as effective without Blake Griffen...who at this stage of his career is one of the best 4 mans in the game
  • Indiana has made efforts to move Paul George to the 4 spot and it has seemingly made them better
  • OKC & SA both went to small ball when going head to head with the Warriors...abandoning any attempt at beating them with size on the inside....ad did Cleveland last year in the Finals
  • Speaking of which...beating all the other top 5 teams handily...dethroning a King as depicted here, https://i.imgur.com/a5qlL2r.gifv  GS are in a league of their own.  People joke about the 76ers not belonging in the league...its true about these guys as well, just the opposite way.

The thing is even if you re-tool your team to play like GS...yeah you'll get better if you got the guards that can do it.  But who in the league is anywhere near player Curry is beyond the 3 point arc?  Who even has the gall to try?

I guess when all the great teams are great it seems like they'll be invincible forever.  But to me odds look like GS's era of invincibility may be a longer version of forever than these past great teams.
