Ranking the NFL’s qbs 32-1

Well the regular season is just about done so its time to see where the starting qbs stack up, these ratings are based on qb’s that had a significant amount of playing time or played more recently and not just a game or so…

32. Dwayne Haskins (WAS)

Has shown some promise, but definitely has a long way to go…

31. Whoever is starting in Pittsburgh Rudolph/Hodges

Neither of these qb’s are very good and will both almost certainly be career backups, hard to believe Rudolph has a positive td/int ratio, Hodges had a few mediocre games that resulted in wins but hes not much to no better than Rudolph…

30. Drew Lock (DEN)

Has shown enough potential where Denver probably won’t go qb shopping this offseason, need to see more before he can be much higher…

29. Kyle Allen (CAR)

Played well early on, but a late season benching in favor of Will Grier, shows he is not the answer in Carolina…

28. Andy Dalton (CIN)

Not a bad qb, but will never be consistently good enough to go very far, he’l be somewhere else next year…

27. Dan Jones (NYG)

Has some ability, his td/int isn’t horrible for a rookie, but the fumbles are a serious issue that has followed him from college, hasn’t hit his ceiling yet, but I still question how high it is for a qb that didn’t light up the scoreboard in college…

26. Ryan Fitzpatrick (MIA)

Has played fairly well considering how bad the Miami roster was/is this season, a journeyman backup, enough said…

25. Sam Darnold (NYJ)

Has had a roller coaster year, has some ok stats, but still turnover prone, and quite inconsistent, hard to say how good he will be in the long run…

24. Derek Carr (OAK)

I still generally think he is a good just not great qb, Oakland has not put much of a team around him these past 6 seasons and his comp% is very solid, just wasn’t his year…

23. Mitch Trubisky (CHI)

Most Bears fans want him gone, but this team has found ways to win some games with him under center which should count for something…

22. Gardner Minshew (JAX)

Has looked good, definitely better than Nick Foles, still im skeptical if he can keep it going long term…

21. Phillip Rivers (LAC)

Is having an up and down year, starting to show his age, probably will retire or play elsewhere next year…

20. Kyler Murray (AZ)

Has had more success than I thought he would, but I am still pretty skeptical of the Kyler/Kliff system working in the NFL, time will tell…

19. Jacoby Brissett (IND)

Had a good start to the season, but flamed out as it went on and returned to his 2017 form, my guess is he’s a Tyrod Taylor level qb in the long run, ok but wont take the Colts far…

18. Jared Goff (LAR)

Had a very up and down year, and the Rams record reflects that, after 2 solid seasons is he now just an average qb?

17. Jameis Winston (TB)

Is having about as mediocre of a season as it gets, probably is not the long term answer in Tampa, but it seems he will be for the time being…

16. Matt Stafford (DET)

Would have him higher had he kept playing, but Detroit wasn’t really winning when he did play anyway, a solid start to the year but not enough wins and starts to rank higher…

15. Baker Mayfield (CLE)

Had quite a regression after a record breaking rookie season, played better down the stretch than at the beginning of the year, still has a lot of potential but it just didn’t happen this year…

14. Ryan Tannehill (TN)

Had a very solid year after sitting on the bench for awhile, probably still just a game manager level qb though…

13. Josh Allen (BUF)

Is winning games in Buffalo, something that doesn’t happen most years, passing stats are still very pedestrian, decent rushing, however his rushing style will likely result in more injuries…

12. Carson Wentz (PHI)

Has solid stats, but not necessarily in the win column this year, an up and down season, with many injuries to playmakers as well, not as dominant as it first seemed that he would be…

11. Matt Ryan (ATL)

No the Falcons aren’t very good, but that doesn’t mean Matt Ryan is a bad qb, a solid to great qb but just doesn’t have the it factor enough to get them to more wins…

10. Dak Prescott (DAL)

Having a great year statistically, but it doesn’t seem to be enough for Dallas this year, a decent qb, but not the difference maker that other, better qbs are…

9. Kirk Cousins (MIN)

Another decent year from a fairly consistent qb, probably more of a quality game manager though than a qb that can take a team to the top…

8. Tom Brady (NE)

Not quite the qb of his heyday anymore, his team is being somewhat carried by great defense and not necessarily superior qb play…

7. Deshawn Watson (HOU)

A solid and consistent starter in Houston, however probably wont go past the second round of the playoffs this year, still probably hasn’t hit his ceiling yet…

6. Jimmy Garoppolo (SF)

Is having a great season and the win loss record can’t be ignored, I still think hes a game manager but for now he’s top 10…

5. Aaron Rodgers (GB)

Has had another good year, but a few rough spots along the way, the loss to SF hurt…

4. Russell Wilson (SEA)

Had a really strong start, kinda so so since, still one of the best, but how will it hold up into his 30’s…

3. Lamar Jackson (BAL)

Could make a case for being #1 but, he is still not a complete qb, his passing stats are average to below average despite the touchdowns,  but for now a top 5 qb…

2. Drew Brees (NO)

Age hasn’t gotten the better of Drew Brees yet as he his having yet another great year, the best traditional qb there is right now…

1. Patrick Mahommes (KC)

The most complete qb in the NFL right now, not quite what he was last year, but still great and able to push what is probably an average KC team to at least the conference championship again…
