Lose for Lawrence, Tank for Trevor, the top teams who are trying to get him...

It’s no secret that Trevor Lawrence is considered the best qb prospect since Andrew Luck in 2012, and like the Colts did in 2011 there will be teams who will and are discretely trying to get him in the 2021 draft, so I decided to compile a list of a few...

1. The New England Patriots

The Patriots have been spoiled by having the best run of qb play possible in NFL history.  Like the Colts before Luck they had a long run of success with one qb.  They probably figure it is worth it to have one bad year for sake of having many potential good years to come with Lawrence thus explaining the Brian Hoyer signing.  Some may disagree but if you look at it it makes no sense whatsoever to sign and likely make Brian Hoyer your starter when much better qbs such as Andy Dalton, Jameis Winston, and Cam Newton are available.  This is one of those very rare off seasons where there is an oversupply of starting qb talent out there and the Patriots didn’t even go with the first second or third best guy out there, they went with probably the 7th-10th best qb they could get either through free agency or trade.  I could still see a possible trade for Jacoby Brissett but if Hoyer is their guy than this is just an obvious attempt at tanking...

2. The Los Angeles Chargers

The Chargers seem to be going with Tyrod Taylor at qb despite there being the better options mentioned above.  They also let Melvin Gordon walk, all of which these moves suggest that they are going to try for a run at Trevor.  I think that the Chargers are definitely a candidate for the worst record in 2020 so their moves suggest that they will try to make a splash to become a more relevant team in LA in the future, despite this being a futile attempt as LA is obviously not a 2 team market.  It would kind of be a shame if he goes to the Chargers as it would mean a lot for so few fans...

3. Washington Redskins

This one is kind of a wild card, the Redskins I believe have every intention of trying to make it work with Dwayne Haskins, however if they don’t win early and he struggles, they may try to attempt at the worst record via trades, they didn’t make any big moves in free agency so its definitely a possibility.  Teams dump on high pick qb's faster than ever now and this could definitely become a Josh Rosen to Kyler Murray situation as was in Arizona...
