Round 1
The Bears have not had a quarterback pass for 30 touchdowns in their team's (formerly) illustrious history. Here's their chance to change that with a potentially generational quarterback.
Some might be afraid to mock an athletic running quarterback who is prone to take contact to Washington since it did not turn out well for them the last time they did that at the second overall pick. However, this is new ownership who wants to make a splash and get butts in seats.
Bill Belichick would have traded this pick for FBS guards and receivers who are out of the league in three years but you can't pass up the opportunity to take Drake Maye if he falls to you.
Jim Harbaugh is looking to build through the trenches. Fashanu has an argument to be the best tackle in this class and Harbaugh saw him while coaching at Michigan enough to know that he will bolster their o-line immensely.
The Vikings trade up! This move may have seemed incredibly obvious ever since their trade with Houston to get another first round pick but the Vikings cannot enter their season with Sam Darnold as their future at quarterback, especially with a generational talent like Justin Jefferson on your team. The Vikings give up both their first round picks as well as a fourth and fifth and a future Day 2 pick.
The Cardinals trade up! The Cardinals ensure that they get the best receiver in this class as their wasn't even a guarantee that one of the other blue chippers would fall to them at 11. They trade up with the first round pick they received from Houston last year, essentially moving up 4 spots in the first round while grabbing an elite talent.
Without J.J. McCarthy here, the Giants take arguably receiver 1A in this class and someone for Daniel Jones to throw to outside of Darren Waller who is injury prone as it is.
The Titans desperately need o-line help even after taking Peter Skoronski last year and Joe Alt is the top tackle in an incredibly deep tackle class.
The Falcons have had the least sacks among all teams during the last ten years. With first round talent at the offensive skill positions, Raheem Morris gets a piece on defense that will bring some much needed help to their pass rush.
The Bears get a blue chip receiver for Caleb Williams to develop with. DJ Moore is nice but you can't have enough talent at wide receiver.
With the Chargers trading back, the only other team in dire need of a tight end in the top 10 are the Jets who take Brock Bowers, giving Aaron Rodgers another weapon as well as someone who can protect him, though that's not exactly his strong suit.
I know that I just said Michael Penix wasn't worth taking this high in the draft but the Raiders are gonna Raiders. We will see if Penix can overcome his medical history and prosper in the NFL.
There is temptation to take Bo Nix or Michael Penix here but they aren't worth the high first round pick. Instead, the Broncos take the number one cornerback in the class to complement Patrick Surtain II.
Taking the third tackle in this deep tackle class is no consolation prize for the Saints who need all the help they can get on their o-line.
The Colts would have liked to take Brock Bowers here but they instead have to "settle" for the ballhawk Quinyon Mitchell at cornerback.
The Bills trade up! With the departion of Stefon Diggs, the Bills need to get an elite weapon for Josh Allen and Brian Thomas has the potential to be that. They give up their second round pick and a future pick to ensure that but that will be worth it if Brian Thomas lives up to his potential.
