Round 1

Picks 1-16
1. Bears: Caleb Williams, QB, USC

While I agreed with Peter King's idea that the Bears should keep Fields and trade down, that ship may have sailed already.

2. Commanders: Jayden Daniels, QB, LSU

They're still the Washington Football Team to me. I loved that name - direct and indisputable.

Regardless, no way they pick a Tar Heel to replace another Tar Heel.

3. Patriots: Drake Maye, QB, North Carolina

Maye is the logical choice here, and Brissett could be the next Steve DeBerg.

4. Cardinals: Marvin Harrison Jr., WR, Ohio State

Some analysts hope he falls because of his combine no show, but he, like Daniels, seem like decent guys who will interview well enough to make up for any perceived snub.

5. Chargers: Brock Bowers, TE, Georgia

If Bowers isn't selected here, he might slip 20 spots. This makes this spot a trade down candidate, particular to either Minnesota or Denver.

Some say that TEs are not worth high picks, but the playoff teams say otherwise. TEs have been major parts of great teams for the past 10-15 years. Bowers should go here.

6. Giants: Malik Nabers, WR, LSU

Nabers may be an improved version of Beckham, and the Giants need these types of playmakers.

Drafting a QB here or even trading down and taking one later would be a costly moonshot. They have too much money invested in Jones to not try one more time to work it out. If it doesn't get one next year. Lot's of "experts" say next draft will be QB poor. I say they are wrong.

7. Titans: Joe Alt, OT, Notre Dame

The Titans need to draft the best OT available, and they get lucky this year that he's available at 7.

8. Falcons: Dallas Turner, OLB, Alabama

With the Cousins signing, this is now a no-brainer.

9. Bears: Rome Odunze, WR, Washington

If you draft a young QB and expect him to start, you better have a decent O-line waiting for him. Beyond that, pair a good WR with him so that they grow together.

10. Jets: Olumuyiwa Fashanu, OT, Penn State

So he has baby hands...isn't that a good thing for OTs? I figure that small hands mean less grabbing with big hands or that refs won't see his tiny hands grabbing. Just don't run him out there for a Tackle Eligible play.

11. Vikings: Jared Verse, DE, Florida State

This is where things get shaky, but I think the Vikings will choose a DE here and hope that a QB stays on the board in the 2nd.

12. Broncos: J.J. McCarthy, QB, Michigan

I used to think J.J. was underrated, but now he's way overrated. The momentum train is a thing in the NFL.

If the Vikings don't draft him here, the Broncos will. The Broncos might trade up with Atlanta, and then Atlanta will draft Verse instead of Dallas Turner, as the Vikings take Turner.

13. Raiders: Taliese Fuaga, G/OT, Oregon State

The Raiders will probably draft a CB next, but with a bigger gap between the first level O-linemen and second, they choose one now.

To build a great QB, build a great O-line first. That the Raiders highly value their up-the-middle pass rush, means they will value someone who can move to guard and counter that rush from other teams.

14. Saints: Laiatu Latu, DE, UCLA

The Saints have too great an outside pass rush history to not improve and maintain that position.

Latu, barring injury, is the best Edge in the class.

15. Colts: Quinyon Mitchell, CB, Toledo

Mitchell seems to have risen to the top of a very deep CB crop.

16. Seahawks: Byron Murphy II, DT, Texas

They need linemen, period, and DT is the shallowest position in the draft. Better get one while they can.
