Round 2

33. Panthers: Ladd McConkey, WR, Georgia

Pick the best WR and TE available and hope for the best. Ladd will run the routes where Bryce Young will know to find him. That will be great for a young QB whose confidence was tested.

34. Patriots: Xavier Worthy, WR, Texas

As said before, draft a QB early only if you have a line, then pair them with a WR. They might even be best asking Maye who he wants.

35. Cardinals: Darius Robinson, DT, Missouri

Ticking the boxes for Edge/DT. Fiske might be the choice here too as a DT/Edge.

36. Commanders: Jordan Morgan, OT, Arizona

The last of the possible 1st round OTs. The Football Team will pair their WR with Daniels a few picks later.

37. Chargers: Roman Wilson, WR, Michigan

I know that Harbaugh likes linemen, but I think he knows very well that Wilson is the most underrated WR in the draft. Very sure hands will pair well with Bowers and Herbert.

38. Titans: Troy Franklin, WR, Oregon

Franklin's stock has dropped, but he was great at Oregon. With Nix dropping too, someone has to be wrong.

39. Giants: Zach Frazier, C, West Virginia

This is Carolina's pick now with the Burns trade. They pick the best CENTER (not guard) available. Some like Frazier in the 1st.

40. Commanders: Xavier Legette, WR, South Carolina

I think Legette is a beast. I don't care if he's 6-1 and not 6-3, he plays like he's 6-5 and runs like he's 5-10.

41. Packers: Kamari Lassiter, CB, Georgia

Best play available in a position of "need."

42. Vikings: Bo Nix, QB, Oregon

Well, it works out for the Vikings after all, as, contrary to popular opinion, the first 6 picks are not all QBs.

43. Falcons: Michael Penix Jr., QB, Washington

When one team drafts a QB, the next team just has too. It's compulsive behavior.

Penix is too old to sit him for two years behind Cousins, but so was Kenny Pickett, and the Steelers should have sat him for a year or two. Besides, Cousins will probably get hurt. ATL's line seems to be in good shape, so OK to pick a QB here.

44. Raiders: Braden Fiske, DT, Florida State

Good vibes from Maxx Crosby helps Fiske getting picked here.

I think the Raiders would have picked Penix, but a better choice would have been to sign Jameis Winston and give him one last whirl a la Jim Plunkett. Winston and the Steeler would have been a good match too.

45. Saints: Kingsley Suamataia, OT, BYU

Best player available at a position of need, but perhaps a project. Perhaps not.

46. Colts: Ricky Pearsall, WR, Florida

Pearsall blossomed when paired with AR15 at UF. Richardson has big problems passing on the move, so he needs guys who reliably get open quickly.

47. Giants: Cooper Beebe, G, Kansas State

The book says they pick an OT, but they are better off playing it safe with a high floor OG...denying the Rams another Cooper.

48. Jaguars: Bralen Trice, DE, Washington

The first level WRs are long gone, and they, like everyone else, need an Edge.

I suspect that Trice is underrated, as he was regularly beating Pac 12 pro prospects. He just made a tactical mistake by losing a bunch of weight to have better Combine times - a big fail.

49. Bengals: T'Vondre Sweat, DT, Texas

Sweat is a luxury pick that only playoff teams can afford to draft early. He won't be on the field half the time, but oh, when he is...

50. Eagles: Edgerrin Cooper, LB, Texas A&M

I know they need DBs, but Cooper is here and LBs like this are just rare.

LB is quickly becoming the toughest position in the game, and if you can find someone who is fast and can tackle, draft them ASAP.

51. Steelers: Payton Wilson, LB, N.C. State

Speaking of fast, tackle-ly LBs...

Past injuries only bar him from going higher.

52. Rams: Chris Braswell, OLB, Alabama

Edge is a real crapshoot after the first three, but some will meet expectations.

53. Eagles: Tyler Nubin, S, Minnesota

The Eagles will get lucky and find a quality safety here.

54. Browns: Kris Jenkins, DT, Michigan

By far the best remaining player at a position of need. Helps that he played in the BigTen.

55. Dolphins: Patrick Paul, OT, Houston

OK, I'm a Dolphins fan and Paul just happens to still be available.

56. Cowboys: Mike Sainristil, CB, Michigan

Lots of possibilities here.

57. Buccaneers: Malachi Corley, WR, Western Kentucky

58. Packers: Kamren Kinchens, S, Miami

Because he plays for a rival, I hate Kinchens because he's such a good football player. Not an athlete, a FOOTBALL player.

59. Texans: Ja'Lynn Polk, WR, Washington

I nice reward for Stoud.

60. Bills: Maason Smith, DT, LSU

I think Smith will be much better as a pro than he was last year, when he was just trying to not get injured again. Could be a steal.

61. Lions: Marshawn Kneeland, DE, Western Michigan

If there's a good player from the state of Michigan who plays a position of need, the Lions will (should) take him.

62. Ravens: Michael Hall Jr., DT, Ohio State

Walter and Charlie have Hall super high. But he's small and may have character issues. The Ravens will sort it all out.

63. 49ers: T.J. Tampa, CB, Iowa State

As illustrated against Green Bay in the playoffs, 49ers CBs tend to close their eyes and dive for the legs when trying to tackle someone. Tampa can keep up with receivers and bring down anyone carrying the ball. This is a no-brainer here if available.

64. Chiefs: Kris Abrams-Draine, CB, Missouri

They kind of need a CB, and Abrams-Draine is down the street.

When in doubt, pick guys near you.
