Round 1
Franchise QB? Locker room Alpha? Fingernail polish? This pick is pretty evident at this point as the Bears and Caleb Williams have been quiet over the past few weeks. It will be interesting to see what Caleb's career will look like.
The Commies take a more developed QB to run their franchise for the time being. Daniels is older than Maye and has a greater running ability. This ability fits the mold of the projected offensive scheme under new OC Kliff Kingsbury.
My Patriots are on the clock at pick #3 and stay put. Jayden Daniels is likely too light to be successful with a completely rebuilding team that has a weak offensive line. The Patriots may want someone heavier that can absorb more hits. The Pats then Maye try to fill out their roster for the future. Maye is also only 21 years old, which likely follows the Patriots re-org more closely than a 5th year QB.
TRADE (package via Vikings for pick #3)
The Giants get some secondary help. They have not been drafting too well at this position as of late. They could also trade out of pick #23 and gather more picks.
This pick makes too much sense. And MHJII would look pretty sick in Cardinals gear. This dude is gonna be a beast and an elite red zone target. He has great size and catching ability, and will be very tough to cover.
The Chargers lost their top two receivers this offseason and look to reload their depth at that position to aid Justin Herbert and his young career.
TRADE (Giants give up pick #6 for picks #11, #23, and possibly more from the Vikings)
The Giants franchise needs a reset at playmaker, but trade out. Daniel Jones is in an NFL quarterback version of 'Being John Malkovich'. The Vikes trade up for McCarthy, and the Giants get two FRPs (and possibly more) in return.
Joe Alternative, Joe Alt for short. This massive being is the first player off the board that is not a QB/WR. He will be alongside guard Peter Skoronski, a first round selection in last year's draft. The Titans will need another QB at some point - I don't think Levis will be servicable enough to win consistently.
The Falcons need a better WR2. Frankly, their offense would be bananas with this pick. Kirk Cousins, Kyle Pitts, Drake London, Bijan Robinson, Chris Lindstrom etc. They could also take the first defensive player off the board here at pick #8.
The Bears added offensive pieces with the addition of Keenan Allen via trade and Caleb Williams via draft. Now, they work on defense. I don't think they take a WR here as they now have DJ Moore and Keenan Allen. It could be Bowers, which may land Cole Kmet on trade block.
TRADE (package via Vikings for pick #3)
The Giants add some power to their defensive line with this selection. Verse or a player like Latu could fit well with the likes of Dexter Lawrence, Kayvon Thibodeaux, etc.
The Steelers trade up for the second year in a row to fill a gap on their offensive line. Penn State product Fashanu moves a few hours Southwest to play in Pittsburgh.
I think that this pick it will be Bowers (or Odunze) if he is still there and can give Aaron Rodgers a new outlet for production on the field. The Jets filled their LT need with the signing of Tyron Smith this offseason.
The Raiders could roll with Gardner Minshew for a rollercoaster of a season in Las Vegas and get a brand spankin' new offensive lineman for Mike Leach product the Jockstrap King. I think they might like Penix enough to take him here. As a fellow lefty, I hope Penix has a fantastic career as one of the unicorn QBs in the league.
The Saints have an aging offensive line and pickup the behemoth JC Latham from Alabama. This helps to protect Derek Carr, though I am not sure that he is worth protecting.
Bowers could goes higher, but in this mock draft he falls in the lap of Indianapolis. He is one of the best college TE prospects of all time and gives Anthony Richardson another sweet weapon for his development along with Michael Pittman and Josh Downs.
