Round 2
Powers-Johnson’s slide won’t last long into night two, as Carolina plugs the hole left by Bradley Boseman’s departure. Despite some medical flags, JPJ has the talent to potentially become the best center out of this year’s draft.
Morgan projects as a guard in the NFL, which San Francisco could definitely use–Jon Feliciano is on a one-year deal, and is 32–but he has the flexibility to play tackle, too, which gives the 49ers a potential upgrade over Colton McKivitz.
Kneeland has been a late riser in this year’s draft process, and the Commanders could use help on the EDGE after dealing away Montez Sweat and Chase Young at last year’s trade deadline.
McKinstry has the talent to go in the first round, but an offense-heavy first round pushes him to the start of Day 2. Jim Harbaugh got to see plenty of Kool-Aid in last year’s college football semi-final, so he knows what he’s capable of.
TRADE!
Miami receives: 2024 Round 2, Pick 38
Tennessee receives: 2024 Round 2, Pick 55; 2024 Round 6, Pick 198; 2025 2nd-round
No team in the NFL utilizes speed better than the Dolphins, so this may be Worthy’s best chance to make an impact early in his NFL career. Worthy has questions regarding production and physicality, but his record-breaking 4.21 40-yard dash is enticing nonetheless.
McConkey is a candidate to go late round one, and for good reason–he’s arguably the best route runner in the entire draft. Instead, the Falcons get a steal here at #43.
I’m not buying the rumors that Penix will end up a round one pick, but I do think he has the tools to develop into an NFL starter. He seems to have overcome the lengthy injury history that he built up during his time at Indiana, and he’s a confident and strong passer. He struggles with his mechanics and having consistent accuracy–but perhaps a receiving corps of Davante Adams and Jakobi Meyers can help bail him out the same way his phenomenal trio did at Washington.
Polk should make an impact early in Jacksonville. One of my favorite prospect-to-pro comps I’ve heard this offseason was that Polk is 2024’s version of Chris Godwin. If he ends up being 70% of that, the Jags will be real happy with how he fits in that offense next to Christian Kirk and Gabe Davis.
Pearsall is one of my favorite WR prospects in this entire draft. He’ll likely end up a slot receiver in the NFL, which is something the Steelers desperately need. He has a natural feel for getting open and grinding out chunk yardage, and should quickly become a favorite target for Russell Wilson.
One of the easiest picks of this entire mock. Brooks is this draft’s best RB prospect, and the connections between him and Dallas make this a likelihood on Friday night.
If the Steelers had a slot need on offense, they had an even bigger one on defense, but Sainristil will solve that quickly. He’s real similar to former Steeler Mike Hilton, and Pittsburgh should be very happy to get him this late in the draft. I love Sainristil's game -- he's my #20 player in this entire class -- and he's impossible to pass up here.
