Post Combine Mock Draft
Best guesses before free agency begins
Round 1
Picks 1-16
Picks 17-32
About 99.9 percent certain on this one
After dealing Jermaine Johnson away in the trade for T'Vondre Sweat, a top flight EDGE rusher feels like the right call here. Because I went with David Bailey last time, I'll stick with him here. Arvell Reese certainly closed the gap, though.
With Reese, my guess is he'll mostly play EDGE rusher while moonlighting some as an off-ball linebacker. He'd be an excellent addition across from Josh Sweat.
Is this high for an off-ball linebacker? No doubt, but Sonny Styles feels like he could be a Fred Warner type of player. And Robert Saleh knows full well what Fred Warner is capable of as he spent many years as Warner's defensive coordinator with the 49ers.
Like his college teammate in Sonny Styles, Caleb Downs may not provide major positional value, but he'd be an intriguing pick for the Giants as John Harbaugh could see Downs as his version of Kyle Hamilton on the Giants.
Mauigoa did not work out at the combine, but he did check in with 33.25 inch arms. Although some people do see him as a guard, I think he'll get every chance to remain at tackle in the pros. Needing help on the O-Line in the worst way, the Browns choose him knowing they can move him inside if need be later.
Positional value be darned (again), there's a very real argument to be made that Jeremiyah Love would easily be the best talent available for the Commanders at 7 given the real possibility that I could see him gone before this point. An impact defensive player here would be nice, but Love would make life a lot easier for Jayden Daniels.
At the combine, Makai Lemon said he models his game after fellow former USC receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown. It's hard to project him to be that good, but in terms of playing style, he's not too dissimilar from St. Brown, Jaxon Smith-Njigba and Puka Nacua. He'd become the new on-field best friend of Tyler Shough in this scenario.
Tate didn't run the best 40 time at the combine, but I still expect he'll be the next excellent receiver to come out of the Ohio State program and make a name for himself at the NFL level. He excels at route running and man, he can go up and high point the ball with the best of them in this class. Patrick Mahomes won't mind having a target like this.
Bain's arm length will be a major talking point until late April. It was known prior to the combine that he had short arms, but nobody knew they measured in a shade under 31 inches. Still, it's hard to deny the performances he's put up on tape. Cincinnati could be losing Trey Hendrickson in free agency, so they look Bane's direction here.
Good news/bad news is how I would describe Spencer Fano's combine. He excelled running a 40 and was smooth as could be in on-field workouts. The one problem? His arm length was just a tick above 32 inches, about a half an inch shorter than Will Campbell's arms measured in at a year ago. Plus I'm not sure Fano is quite as highly regarded a prospect as Campbell was a year ago, so it makes some sense in my mind to have him be drafted lower. That said, a Pro Bowl/All-Pro level guard wouldn't be the worst outcome.
In terms of corners not coming off a serious injury, Mansoor Delane is the best one this draft has to offer. He already showed himself to be a legit prospect at Virginia Tech, but he took his game to another level at LSU. Dallas gets a much needed boost to its secondary.
Jets get: Picks 13, 61 (R2) and 142 (R5)
Rams get: Picks 16, 44 (R2) and 178 (R5)
Nagging injuries have been a part of Jordyn Tyson's college career, but there's no questioning his talent, skills nor his performance when he's been on the field. Aside from Garrett Wilson, the Jets WR room is not in the best of shape. Although the Rams could consider Tyson with their selection, they've done a nice job of finding great receivers in later rounds. Cooper Kupp and Puka Nacua are prime examples of that, so I think they'd be comfortable passing on Tyson here in a scenario where he's available.

Lots of directions the Ravens could go with this selection. The top 3 wideouts are gone in this scenario, but they could be targets if available. Defense could certainly be considered as well. Vega Ioane would feel like a very Ravens pick, though. Even with the changes on the coaching staff, they're still going to lean heavily on running the ball with Derrick Henry and Lamar Jackson. Ioane looks like a more athletic Tyler Booker to me, and Booker went 12th overall a year ago to Dallas. So I think Ioane going in a similar range is not at all out of the question.
Tampa Bay is such a hard team to project here given how the draft played out in front of them. Do they forego positional value and go with Kenyon Sadiq here, or do they like an EDGE rusher who would fit their scheme enough to take one of them here? I have them taking the latter route with Zion Young, a name that's been rising over the last month.
Boy do I feel stupid for not including Dillon Thieneman in my pre-combine mock draft. I'm definitely not making that mistake this time. And yes, I feel like it's not at all unrealistic for him to be a top 20 pick. His combine performance just enforced what was seen on tape. This guy can do it all. He'd be a one heck of an addition to a Rams secondary that could use some upgrades this offseason.
