Round 2

33. Panthers: Ladd McConkey, WR, Georgia

The last couple of years couldn't have gone much worse for Carolina. They turned down the Rams' offer of two 1st's for Brian Burns, who they now may lose for nothing. They gave up DJ Moore and draft capital last year to move to #1, only to have their owner almost certainly overrule their coaching staff's desire to take CJ Stroud. Bereft of WR's who can separate, that's McConkey's game, and his sub-4.40 40 time has given him an outside shot of going in the 1st Round.

35. Cardinals: Ennis Rakestraw Jr., CB, Missouri

Rakestraw is seemingly on the late 1st/early 2nd border. Obviously, Arizona needs corners; heck, they need a lot.

34. Patriots: Jordan Morgan, OT, Arizona

The OL needs to be as rebuilt, just like the offense does as a whole, so here's some protection for new QB Drake Maye.

36. Commanders: Darius Robinson, DT, Missouri

The Commies have come away with Jayden Daniels already, and now they are scheduled to have two picks out of the next five. After trading away Chase Young and Montez Sweat, the team needs some edge rushers. Robinson is a bigger edge player and used to be a DT. He won't wow with speed off the edge, but the strength will be there.

37. Chargers: Zach Frazier, C, West Virginia

This assumes that Jim Harbaugh can resist the temptation of taking Blake Corum here. OL and center, in particular, are such huge needs for the team, though, and Frazier should seamlessly fill Cory Linsley's shoes.

38. Titans: Troy Franklin, WR, Oregon

The Titans were able to come away with Alt in the 1st Round to play LT, and they got extra draft capital, too. Now they turn their attention to a much-needed young receiver for Will Levis. The team will hope that Treylon Burks can show an upward trajectory after an injury-marred 2023, but they clearly need more youthful talent in the WR room.

39. Giants: Kris Jenkins, DT, Michigan

Depth is an issue on the DL. Enter Jenkins, a key piece of that stalwart Michigan defense.

40. Commanders: Ja’Tavion Sanders, TE, Texas

While Sanders may not be much of a blocker, he has a chance to be a dynamic pass-catcher, and the team just cut Logan Thomas. Obviously, there's a clear need at the position.

41. Packers: Edgerrin Cooper, LB, Texas A&M

Cooper and Quay Walker would be quite an athletic pair at 'backer for Green Bay.

42. Chargers: Kamari Lassiter, CB, Georgia

TRADE! (See #5 for details.)

With the 2nd Round pick obtained from the Vikings, the Bolts opt for the Georgia Bulldog to fill one of the many needs on this roster.

43. Falcons: Devontez Walker, WR, North Carolina

I'm predicting that the Falcons will have Cousins in tow, and it's true that the team has VERY little at WR behind Drake London. I had Keon Coleman here before, but on second look, his 4.61 40 time could be a disqualifier for Terry Fontenot. Walker, by contrast, blazed a sub-4.4 40 and was one of the most athletic WR's at the Combine.

47. Giants: Bo Nix, QB, Oregon

With the extra 2nd Round pick here, the Giants take a shot on Nix.

44. 49ers: Patrick Paul, OT, Houston

TRADE! (See #31 for details.)

Paul has really helped his stock at both the Senior Bowl and then the Combine. He's considered to be further along in pass pro; regardless, the 49ers need help at RT and at least one guard spot.

45. Saints: Cooper Beebe, G, Kansas State

Guard is a serious need on the Saints' roster.

46. Colts: Tyler Nubin, S, Minnesota

Our first pure safety (not counting DeJean) is off the board with Nubin here.

48. Jaguars: T'Vondre Sweat, DT, Texas

Some help for the DL. Sweat could be a Vita Vea-like run-stuffer as a pro.

49. Bengals: Blake Corum, RB, Michigan

Almost made it through 50 picks without a RB! Just like last year, Joe Mixon seems like a cut candidate, as the team will save nearly $6MM in cap space by doing so. With the decision to retain Tee Higgins on the franchise tag, it appears that it's more likely this year than last that Mixon is put on the chopping block.

50. Eagles: Junior Colson, LB, Michigan

Philly, it seems, can always use more talent at LB.

51. Steelers: Mike Sainristil, CB, Michigan

The Michigan man is seen as being an ideal slot/nickel corner for the next level.

52. Chiefs: Kingsley Suamataia, OT, BYU

TRADE! The Rams trade #52 to Kansas City for L'Jarius Sneed.

F them picks! We saw KC deal franchise-tagged Dee Ford to the 49ers in 2019 for a 2nd Round pick. Perhaps the same will happen here. The Rams are back in win-now mode, and lack a #1 outside corner. They have the cap space to give Sneed the type of contract he'll be looking for. Meanwhile, the Chiefs have to be cognizant of their cap situation, particularly since they need to pay Chris Jones. They try to address the need at OT with the BYU product here.

53. Eagles: Chris Braswell, OLB, Alabama

With some pass rushers on the team aging and with Haason Reddick a possible trade candidate, I'm sure that Howie Roseman will once again spend early draft capital on an edge player.

54. Browns: Braden Fiske, DT, Florida State

Welcome to the draft, Browns! Fiske tore up the Combine and should be selected comfortably on Day 2.

55. Dolphins: T.J. Tampa, CB, Iowa State

Xavien Howard was released, and more talent is needed in the CB room.

56. Cowboys: Jaylen Wright, RB, Tennessee

Wright is a home-run hitter, something the Dallas offense lacked from Tony Pollard a season ago. Perhaps it was Pollard's recovery from a broken leg, but nonetheless, it seems like Dallas will allow Pollard to walk.

57. Buccaneers: Adisa Isaac, DE, Penn State

Shaq Barrett got released, and the Bucs always seem to invest in edge rushers early in drafts under Jason Licht.

58. Packers: Jonathon Brooks, RB, Texas

Brooks is probably the best RB in the draft, but is recovering from a November ACL tear. Still, with AJ Dillon going somewhere else to suck, and with stud RB Aaron Jones at age 29 and going into the final year of his deal, Brooks could be the heir apparent.

59. Texans: Malachi Corley, WR, Western Kentucky

Corley is "just" 5'11, but he plays like a big, physical receiver who can make things happen after the catch. Some scouts compare him to a smaller Deebo Samuel, and, well, DeMeco Ryans would know all about that.

60. Bills: Keon Coleman, WR, Florida State

Coleman is a bit of a polarizing prospect, but Buffalo doesn't seem to be an RAS-drafting team, and we know about the need.

61. Lions: Payton Wilson, LB, N.C. State

I don't think a team that had a problem picking Jack Campbell late in the 1st would have issue with picking Wilson late in the 2nd here. Just another tough, hard-nosed, good player here to add.

62. Ravens: Max Melton, CB, Rutgers

Melton, a slot corner prospect, put up a 9.65 RAS in Indy.

63. 49ers: Austin Booker, DE, Kansas

The 49ers add another pass rusher to the mix, albeit one who seems to be drawing a split decision among the scouting community.

64. Chiefs: Trey Benson, RB, Florida State

KC has no one of consequence signed for next season in the RB room beyond starter Isiah Pacheco, and they would be wise to not put too much on Pacheco's plate so that he's relatively fresh for the playoffs. (Last year, KC gave Pacheco 249 touches in 14 regular season games, and then rode him to the tune of 93 touches in 4 playoff games.) Perhaps the team can re-sign Jerick McKinnon cheaply again, but Benson would likely do a better job in the "CEH role."
