Week 1: Daily Fantasy Football QB & TE value picks

We’re so close the opening Sunday for the new football season. Fantasy football is upon us and while most of us have already drafted our teams for standard leagues. Daily fantasy football leagues are still being filled. Here are my value picks for Quarterbacks and tight ends for week one using Draft Kings. Again these are value picks, guys that I believe can offer the most bang for buck.

QUARTERBACKS:

QB Dak Prescott, Dallas Cowboys $5,000:  This pick has true sleeper value. He comes roughly $1,500 less than any other decent QB starter out there, which could mean the difference between a good and an elite wide receiver in your roster. What I like is that he played very well in the preseason, he never turned the ball over and he has the best offensive line in the NFL that he will be standing behind. What does concern me is that he is a rookie and will have a rookie running back next to him. But even with the Giants upgrades in free agency and the draft to their defense I think that Prescott, Elliott, Witten and Bryant will be able to move the ball. Worth the value here. I see Prescott going 225 yards in the air, 30 on the ground and a touchdown for 18 points.

QB Carson Wentz, Philadelphia Eagles $5,000:  Another rookie here. I normally don’t like to go with rookies because I believe that if a strong defense can shake them they will play off their game and in turn, create turnovers. Wentz is a high risk, high reward player. He comes cheap, just like Prescott. However, he is kind of being rushed back from a hairline fracture to the ribs and that is a little concerning. He will be playing Cleveland’s defense and it’s anyone’s guess on how bad it will be. They have lost or traded a lot of the talent that was there and are clearly in a rebuilding stage. I think that if he plays the whole game Wentz could have a very strong week 1; 275 yards in the air, 20 on the ground, 2 touchdowns and 1 INT for 25 points.

TIGHT ENDS:

TE Martellus Bennett, New England Patriots $3,400:  I liked Bennett going into the season for a couple reason. One is the offense is going to go back to a 2 TE passing attack similar to the days of Gronk and Hernandez. I also know that while Gronk is a monster, he battles injury every year, and this would give Bennett a chance to sneak in and be the number one TE in New England. Well if you haven’t already heard, Gronk is not playing this Sunday and didn’t even travel with the team. Therefore, look for Jimmy Garoppolo to be throwing a lot to Bennett here. I like Bennett for 5 receptions, 60 yards and a touchdown for 17 points.

TE Delanie Walker, Tennessee Titans $4,500:  Those who played fantasy football last year knew about Walker and how he and Marcus Mariota were always on the same page. The team has gutted a lot of the receiving options on the team. One of the receivers left on the roster is rookie receiver Sharpe who I like this year but is still a rookie. The other is Kendall Wright who is fighting nagging injuries but is still expected to play this week. Walker averaged 8.5 receptions 4 of the last 5 weeks of last season. Expect Walker to come out Sunday and put up 6 receptions, 70 yards and a touchdown for 19 points.
