TE Value Picks for Week 2

Yesterday I gave my Value quarterbacks for week 2, now let’s look at most quarterback’s safety blanket in the passing game, the Tight End. Again this is all based on Draft Kings salary numbers and scoring, these are my value picks, NOT my best Tight Ends of the week. These are the guys that I foresee offering the best bang for buck when picking your rosters this week, especially when you’re trying to squeeze enough money to spend on Antonio Brown.

1.  TE Jacob Tamme, Atlanta Falcons $2,900:

I really like the value here for this pick. Matt Ryan looked Tamme’s way with the ball quite often, targeting him 8 times and connecting 6 of those. The Raiders held Coby Fleener last week to 1.6 points. I put that more on Fleener not taking advantage of his opportunities within the offense and the flow of the game more than the Raiders taking Fleener out. I see Tamme getting targeted at least 8 times again this week. I think this game will be very similar to the Saints Raiders game last week leaving plenty of opportunities for Tamme to make some big plays. I like Tamme for 5 receptions, 60 yards and a touchdown for 17 points.

2.  TE Gary Barnidge, Cleveland Browns $4,000:

This one has a little risk involved in it. However, there is quite a bit of reward. Barnidge played his best games last year with Josh McCown as the quarterback. I think that with McCown coming back this week, the ball will get spread out a lot more and i will be looking for McCown to find Barnidge in the endzone. I foresee Barnidge going 5 receptions, 50 yards and a touchdown for 16 points.

3.  TE Cameron Brate, Tampa Bay Buccaneers $2,600

This is a pick that I am excited about. For the price it’s almost as low as you can spend on a TE, and Brate last year came on the scene as a favorite target for Winston late in the season. Out of Tampa’s 3 TE’s there were only 5 targets, 3 going to Brate, who caught all three of them. The touchdown that Brandon Myers caught last week against the Falcons I’m all but certain was supposed to be for Brate, Winston was looking at him most of the way. Once Tampa went up 31 to 13 the team started running the ball and went away from the pass unfortunately for Brate. The Bucs played a lot of 2 TE sets either having both or 1 of the TE’s blocking and I think this gives Brate more time on the filed offering more opportunities to make plays there. This week against the Cardinals I like Brate for 4 receptions, 50 yards and a touchdown for 15 points.
